What useful advice would you offer to someone who is extremely interested in pursuing cartooning/drawing comics for a living? And who has no college degree and knows no one in the business

kingtrash:

it’s always kind of weird to give advice about this stuff, since the fact that i’m making a living drawing has so much to do with a series of incredibly lucky “right place/right time” moments for me.

but i would say keep yourself on a rigorous schedule, table at small press and comic fairs, post your work regularly online, give your work to other artists/editors/publishers you admire

Brown Sugar

When the Rolling Stones released the song, “Brown Sugar,” there was immediate speculation that it referred to singer, novelist, actress and model Marsha Hunt. In her 1985 autobiography, Real Life, Hunt acknowledged that “Brown Sugar” is about her. Jagger and Hunt had a daughter together in 1970.
